As many of you know, the last few days have been very difficult for our family. My cousin, Andy Brown, went home to be with the Lord. It has been overwhelming in so many ways. However his memorial service was a sweet reminder of how we are to live as God's children. It was precious to hear people speak of how he touched their lives (and made them laugh), but nothing was more precious than hearing his wife say that while she and Andy were dating she came to know Jesus as her savior! That's what it's all about! Please continue to pray for our family.
Doctor's update: we had a great appointment today with the doctor. It appears as though Preston Banks' heart has moved even closer to mid line, giving that "squished" lung some more room! And we also were reminded of God's faithfulness...with the position that Preston Banks was in today, the ultrasound nurse said that had she not known what she was looking for, she might have missed his heart being displaced and she had a difficult time "seeing" anything in his chest cavity. If he had been in this position at 32 weeks, it would have been very easy for the nurse to miss the hernia. We would have delivered at the wrong hospital and the staff would not have been prepared to give my baby boy the attention he needs. We praise God that he WAS in a position that they could see and that we now have a plan!
I am scheduled for a c-section on January 20th and little man should arrive around 7:30am! I am so excited, overwhelmed, and scared all at the same time! This will put me at 37weeks 5days and give baby boy good "growing time" in my belly! My OB did perform the amnio today. Many of you have asked why he wanted to do one. He basically said that there are some percentages of diaphragmatic hernias that are associated with chromosomal issues and we want to be prepared if there are any serious, life threatening ones to help keep Daniel and me informed before he is born. He said that if there are life threatening issues for the baby then we will be better informed on what machines we would want him hooked up to. He also said that it will help rule out lots of "speculating" from the neonatologists. If we give them all of the information that they need upfront, then they can be prepared to give him the best care possible. He has not seen any red flags up to this point-but again, we will have all of the information we could possibly give the doctors before he arrives.
Our current prayer requests are:
-Results from the amnio should be in around 1 week to 10 days from now. I am claiming all of the verses you guys have sent me on not being anxious...and trusting God for His best for us
-please continue to pray for our minds-that we will hold fast to the truths that come from God's word and not let things that we read or things that other people say allow us to lose sight of who HE is
-please pray that Daniel and I will continue to SEE and SEEK God's will for our sweet baby boy
And finally, Mary Wallace and I have had the sweetest time together over the last few days. She is my little chatter box and the things that she says amaze me. We have been memorizing scripture together and our verse has been "Do not be afraid...your prayers have been heard" Luke 1:13 Thank you for all of your prayers, meals, cards, calls, texts and for just showing up...Daniel and I are so blessed to have you as our friends. We love you and could never say thank you enough!

ReplyDeleteBeen thinking about you. Glad to hear things are going well. It took me a few minutes to make the connection of who your cousin was. So shocked to hear about Andy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of his sweet family.
